ABSTRACT
In this day and age of the Internet, moving information around quickly, people are finding out how a VFX shot is achieved and it spreads like wildfire. Frozen Time is an effect that’s been around a while but has become very popular after being used recently on Heroes. Popularized in many music videos and films, the speed-up/slowdown effect commonly seen got particular attention in the film 300. In The Matrix, the famous freeze followed by the 360 degree spin maneuver has become widely used. Because the effect relies on having a circular-shaped rig with quite a few cameras, here’s another version of this effect that relies on a jump-cutting technique. Although it doesn’t exactly resemble the true look of bullet time, this low-tech version has gained its own reputation, having been used on a number of indie films and TV commercials.
