PITCHED ROOFS INTRODUCTION Many construction experts consider the proper performance of the roof to be more important than that of any other building element, except, perhaps, the foundation. This is because whole or, more usually, partial failure of the roof inevitably has an adverse effect upon one or more elements elsewhere within the building.
