Education, training and career prospects
In earlier years public relations practice mainly attracted journalists. Some barristers, civil servants, economists, or those working in marketing or general management were also attracted by the opportunities in this new profession. These men and women brought with them many skills and talents but they had to learn the specific requirements of everyday practice. While it is likely that some people will continue to move across from other fields, there are now excellent opportunities for studying public relations in depth at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
