chapter  9
Passive movements
Pages 12

Passive movements are those movements given to the client which are performed by the beauty therapist alone and in which the client plays no active part. They can be divided into two groups: forced and relaxed. Forced passive movements are mainly carried out under medical supervision. It is only the relaxed passive movements which concern the beauty therapist and which will be described. They may be given as a treatment on their own, included as a part of the massage session or merely used as a method of handling the client's limbs while repositioning during the course of treatment.
