From Faraday's original work we know that e = A4>/At volts for a single tom where e = electromotive force in. volts, A<p = flux linked in webers and At = time interval .in seconds.

Figure 3.1 shows a conductor of length I metres moving through an area of uniform magnetic field. The total flux is <p webers and the conductor moves a distance of d metres at a uniform velocity of v metres per second.
