ABSTRACT

It seems that Dr Moore thinks it is still true. Notice, however, that in some people’s eyes the ‘law’ has changed. It originally referred to the density of transistors on a piece of silicon. This is closely related to RAM capacity but many people take it to mean ‘processor speed’.Transistor density is only one of the many factors that contribute to processor speed. You should also notice that Dr Moore refers to Intel products, not surprising considering he is a co-founder of the company, but as the marketplace is very competitive and other companies’ products are comparable, it is reasonable to extrapolate his results to other firms.
