ABSTRACT

Peninsula Hot Springs is located on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and is one of Australia’s newest spa operations, open to visitors since June 2005. It offers bathing in natural geothermal pools, as well as private hot mineral baths and a Li’tya Spa Dreaming Centre for beauty and relaxation treatments. Patrons can also use the café, with healthy light meals served based on ‘ spa cuisine ’ . Its visitor base is diverse, ranging from young women and couples enjoying weekend packages and ‘ getaways ’ in the region and holidaying families with children, to retirees seeking a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The proximity to the city of Melbourne means that the target market is largely metropolitan or Peninsula dwellers, although its accommodation packages with local businesses may entice more interstate and

overseas visitors in the future. Its unique features are its status as the fi rst hot springs to be commercially developed as a spa centre in Victoria and its locale on the picturesque and rugged coast, about 1.5 hour’s drive from the elegant and cosmopolitan Melbourne, which makes it well placed to access tourists and day-trippers alike.
