ABSTRACT
Commercial timbers are defi ned as hardwoods and softwoods according to their botanical classifi cation rather than their physical strength. Hardwoods are from broad leaved trees which are deciduous in temperate climates. Softwoods are from conifers, which are typically evergreen with needle shaped leaves.
