ABSTRACT
Planning regulations control individuals ’ freedom to alter their property in an attempt to protect the environment in UK towns, cities and countryside, in the public interest. Different regulations and systems of control apply in the different UK regions. Planning permission is not always required, and in such cases the planning department will issue a Lawful Development Certifi cate on request and for a fee.
