ABSTRACT

Connecting a microphone to a camcorder is not that straightforward a task, but the task is made easier if non-audio specialist know beforehand what to expect. There are some things to know when connecting a microphone to a camcorder. Things such as what kind of connection the microphone uses and how to adapt to a situation where the microphone and camera’s connectors do not match, makes all the difference. Low impedance, or balanced connections, provide protection against interference and noise. Low impedance connections can be run great distances for hundreds of feet and not have any degradation in the signal. Wireless systems operate much like wired systems, with the exception, naturally, of the wireless connection made between the receiver and the transmitter. There are literally hordes of different adapter plugs and cables out there just in case one need to convert one type of connection into another connection type.
