ABSTRACT

The Photo Layout feature fi rst appeared in Elements 5.0 but owes much of its heritage to thealbum page creation wizards of previous versions of the program. The feature has been revamped since then and now is broken into two main categories – Photo Books and Photo

Collages. The Photo Book option is designed to help create professional quality photo albums

and scrapbooks containing between 20 and 80 pages. This option combines the template-like

production of the original Elements feature along with some unique, newer, Elements features

which include:

the ability to auto place and size a series of selected photos,t

a special Frame layer type that can store, and provide, edit options for both an image and its t frame, and a Smart Object layer that is used for storing image content such as photos (when

dragged from the Project Bin), graphics and shapes,

a unique multi-page document format called the Photo Creation or .PSE document,t

the option to apply frames, backgrounds and whole themes (a combination of frames and t backgrounds) to photo projects. See Figure 10.1,

a series of new or revamped Photo Creation wizards (see Figure 10.2), and t

the ability to add text, graphics, shapes and special effects to the project from those listed int the Content palette.
