Topic 20. Rectifier Diodes
One of the most important uses of diodes comes from their ability to conduct in only one direction. See what happens in this circuit:
The supply is alternating current, from a transformer. In the diagram below, there is a load connected to
the circuit. The diagram shows the path of the current during the positive half-cycles of the AC. The diode is foward biased, so it conducts. Current flows through the diode to the load and returns along the 0 V line.
