ABSTRACT
The standard form of construction for the external walls of brick buildings is
called cavity walling. This means that the bricklayer builds the two separate
‘leaves’ or ‘skins’ of brick masonry (a general term indicating brickwork and
or blockwork), with a 50-75mm wide space between.
