ABSTRACT

The type of drainage system selected for a building will be determined by the local water authority's established sewer arrangements. Drains may be connected independently to the public sewer so that each building owner is responsible for the maintenance of the drainage system for that building. For conventional drainage systems without an interceptor trap, an anti-flooding trunk valve may be fitted within the access chamber nearest the sewer. The contents of drainage pipe lines should gravitate to the sewer and sewage processing plant. The tank is a watertight chamber in which the sewage is liquefied by anaerobic bacterial activity. The layout and spacing of subsoil drainage systems depends on the composition and drainage qualities of the subsoil and the disposition of buildings. The Klargester settlement tank is a simple, reliable and cost-effective sewage disposal system manufactured from glass reinforced plastics for location in a site prepared excavation.
