ABSTRACT

Six Senses Resorts & Spas (SSRS) is a luxury hotel management and development company established in 1995 which currently operates 16 resorts and 32 spas worldwide, with a strong focus on Thailand (7 resorts in 2010), Vietnam (3 resorts in 2010 and 2 more planned for 2012) and the Maldives (3 resorts). With headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, the company does not usually own the physical properties, instead it offers consultancy, development and management services for resorts and spas operated under its Six Senses brand. Six Senses branded resorts employ around 4,000 employees and accommodate around 400,000 guests per year. For the past 15 years the company has based its marketing on the idea of ‘intelligent luxury’, presenting the image of exclusive eco-resorts which attempt to integrate luxury and environmental responsibility.
