ABSTRACT

The purpose of the systems engineering (SE) Management Subprocess is to ensure that the development tasks are accomplished efficiently and effectively through proper planning and control of the SE process and development team efforts. The SE Planning effort determines how the systems engineering process is to be accomplished and controlled to meet project objectives. The task includes the management efforts of the Systems Engineering Manager to maintain the correct staffing, equipment and facility levels, manage cost and schedule for the SE tasks, and coordinate among the process participants and the project manager to execute the SE tasks. Systems engineering is responsible for the conduct of several reviews and audits during execution of the design, production and deployment processes. Required reviews and audits are scheduled in the systems engineering detailed schedule and occur at specified points for determining design completeness, traceability, and ability to meet requirements.
