ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at e-learning and blended learning strategies and consider how they may contribute to improved delivery of learning materials. If students have different learning styles, then it must surely follow that educators have different teaching styles. Adults entering the learning environment have different needs to school-age learners, and often have much to contribute to their own learning. Therefore the category of adult learners provides a unique challenge in education, and the use of an e-learning or blended learning approach by the educator may facilitate learning in student group. In order to build a blended learning strategy, the educator must select methods of delivery of learning materials that are relevant to the student group and the available facilities. Blended learning and the use of e-learning are advocated nationally by a number of professional and governing bodies as the way forward in adult education.
