Receipt and Validation of Information

WithKevin B. Kinnee

Information is received by investigators from several sources within the law enforcement community and outside sources. The credibility of the investigator and the agency he or she represents is at stake, not to mention the possible liability if the investigator fails to do a complete background before acting on the information received. Since the Supreme Court has given law enforcement permission to use trash to gather documentation of illegal activities, investigator may find themselves digging through refuse on a daily basis. Welfare workers can provide investigator with a large amount of information which could assist them in their background case. Information may be requested, but release is dictated by local policy.
