ABSTRACT

Law enforcement’s response is to develop new programs to fight auto theft. However, until the profit is eliminated and punishment is reinstated, new programs will work. Carjacking can take many forms, but in most cases the vehicle is the prize. The attack may vary greatly, but usually one of the following situations will occur. The criminal will bump the victim’s car and get out to check the damage. When the victim gets out of the car, there is an altercation with the criminal, armed or unarmed, forcing the victim to give up the vehicle. An informant contacted law enforcement officials stating that John Doe was stealing cars and then getting clean titles through his business, ABC Auto Repair. A background was conducted on John Doe, and it was found that he was wanted on a felony warrant for battery.
