ABSTRACT
Throughout this book you will be finding ways of rethinking your leadership future. It is a good idea for you to set up a benchmark at the very start which you can refer back to after you have worked your way through the book. We encourage you to spend some time drawing up a personal statement on your views about leadership. The only person who will be examining it will be yourself, which makes it more enjoyable. As you write you may even find the ‘conversation with yourself’ producing a few surprising ideas (Box 1.1).
