ABSTRACT
In the last chapter we looked at ability grouping as a way of managing the diversity of ability and needs within the class. There is also an important place for collaborative work in groups. The process of assimilating some new learning is helped considerably by talking about it and comparing one’s own understanding with that of others. Children also learn in many ways from each other and the good teacher needs to harness children’s readiness to talk to each other to their learning.
