ABSTRACT
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are the most visible players in environmental politics around the globe. They are involved in many different spheres of politics, from the local community level, through the politics of the nation-state, to international politics. They exist in both the predominantly non-institutional domain of social movement politics and in the institutionalised milieu of political parties, administrative systems, governments and beyond.
