ABSTRACT
Many mountain regions in western North America are plateaus, and some are known by name as such, while others are called ‘ranges’ or simply ‘mountains’. The numerous mountain ranges, cordilleras and plateaus in western North America present a confusing picture at first sight. We will try to simplify it.
