ABSTRACT

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are umbrella terms for a group of developmental disorders diagnosed on the basis of behavioral phenomena without presence of objective biomarkers. 1 Behavioral symptoms of ASD are most likely the results of expression of various etiological and pathological factors and they probably vary at different stages of development, leading to markedly variable behavioral manifestations and degrees of cognitive impairment. This makes it difficult to analyze a role for each etiological factor in ASD.
