ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I summarise a psychodynamic approach to BESD. The chapter looks at causal factors and at the identification and assessment of BESD in the psychodynamic approach. I describe various interventions. First, the chapter examines therapies that are mainly psychodynamic or draw on aspects of the approach. These are play therapy, music therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and movement therapy. I look at the contribution of nurture groups, which developed from the work of psychoanalyst John Bowlby.
