ABSTRACT

Issuers of statements, bills, and invoices are taking different approaches in their implementation of EBPP (electronic bill presentment and payment) solutions. The solution-selection process was reviewed in Chapter 7. The current chapter presents two case studies that take completely opposite approaches to EBPP implementation. These are followed by a third case study with a clear financial analysis of the return on investment (ROI) for a successful implementation of EBPP. In the first case study, an incumbent service provider wants to open the billing module of a legacy operations support system (OSS) for electronic bill presentment. In the second case study, a competitive service provider demonstrates how start-up service providers can enter the market without any paper bills. The third case study presents financial data illustrating the potential profitability of deploying EBPP.
