Sodium. Soft, silvery white sticks, pellets, wire, or granules; normally coated with a gray oxide or hydroxide skin.1

Sodium Amalgam. Silvery or gray spongy masses.2

Fire Hazard

Ignites spontaneously in air or oxygen; releases hydrogen on contact with water. Use sodium carbonate or dry chemical to extinguish. Fire can also be smothered with dry sand.3
