ABSTRACT

FIGURE 22.1 Simple fracture of the parietal bone from a blow. It is likely that there is no intracranial damage.

FIGURE 22.2 This is a somewhat unusual comminuted displaced fracture of the superior rim of the orbit (arrowheads) with extension into the left frontal sinus. Therefore, this fracture is susceptible to infection. The palpebral fissure on the left (arrows) is much more narrow than that on the right, indicating a great deal of soft tissue swelling. There may be intraorbital and ocular damage as well.
