ABSTRACT
Scientists developed specialized instruments in order to control the size and shape of a wide variety of materials at the atomic or molecular levels. The instrumentation as basically used in STM and AFM has been rapidly modified in various directions during the past decade. This has led to instrumentation that can be used in many different systems.
