ABSTRACT
For children and adolescents who are within the normal range with respect to cognitive and physical development, comparisons with normative samples of children of the same age (and sex as well) provide guidelines for evaluating problems. If the ages of children in a sample differ significantly from the ages of children from whom standard ratings were obtained, it is not possible to make valid comparisons.
