ABSTRACT
In subsequent chapters we shall identify and evaluate some of the ways in which US manufacturing subsidiaries and jointly owned Anglo-American concerns operating in the UK have promoted, and are promoting, British industrial development and competitiveness. But first in this chapter we shall examine some aspects of the structure and organization of these companies, where possible, making comparisons with the situation as it exists in British industry as a whole.
