Example report 1. A case study of an investigation from start to finish The idea begins with a reading of a book found in the library by Neath (1998) on human memory. The student is interested in “doing something on memory span”, being impressed by the “magic number” so often reported in the literature. On page 86 the student reads that bilingual Welsh-English speakers have a shorter digit span and lower IQ measurement in Welsh than they do in English! According to the text this is so because of the extra time it takes to pronounce Welsh digits compared to English digits.
