ABSTRACT
Admiral Flota, and a Hero of the Soviet Union. As an experienced submariner, he occupied senior positions in the Northern Fleet (the main striking force of the Soviet navy during the height of the Cold War), and was C-in-C of the Navy, 1985-92, in succession to GORSHKOV.
