ABSTRACT
General admiral. He commanded the German striking force which was intended to destroy British convoy JW51B off north Russia in December 1942, but was outfought by SHERBROOKE and BURNETT. The result was that Hitler ordered the German surface fleet to be scrapped. This did not happen, but it took no further part in WW2, and RAEDER resigned.
