ABSTRACT

The list of works of the Vienna born architect Hermann Czech includes residential buildings, schools and hotels, as well as small scale interventions. Since the 1960s, Czech has designed a number of cafés and restaurants, that triggered discussion and that were well-received by the public. The chapter text is an excerpt of a conversation between Hermann Czech and former director of the Wien Museum, Wolfgang Kos, about the design of restaurants from the perspective of the architect and that of the patrons.
