ABSTRACT

Tibial plateau fractures follow high-energy trauma in young adults. Cotton and Berg first described these as ‘bumper’ or ‘fender’ fractures in the late 1920s. RTAs account for 4060% of tibial plateau fractures. In the elderly, with osteoporotic bone, tibial plateau fractures follow lesser trauma.
