ABSTRACT
Care should be taken in ensuring that the fracture configuration is such that IM fixation is appropriate. Most IM implants can be locked proximally and distally with screws to control rotation and prevent shortening. It is imperative to ensure that there is adequate distance between the proximal and distal extension of the fractures, to allow stable cross screw fixation.
