ABSTRACT
Arterial injury may result from ‘trauma’ or ‘surgery’. Most peripheral vascular injuries follow penetrating trauma-in Europe largely stab wounds and in North America lowvelocity gunshot wounds. Blunt vascular trauma is less common. Certain fractures and dislocations predispose to arterial injury (Table 1).
