ABSTRACT

There are three patterns of carpal dislocation-radiocarpal, transverse and axial. Transverse dislocations, which include lunate and perilunate dislocations, are of particular interest, representing one end of the spectrum of carpal instability, predisposing to volar and dorsal intercalated segmental instability (VISI and DISI). Pure radiocarpal (wrist) dislocation is rare, as there is usually an associated dorsal or volar (Barton’s) fracture.
