ABSTRACT

Most phalangeal fractures can be treated non-operatively, like metacarpal fractures, with the emphasis on functional recovery.

The indications for operative treatment are:

• Malrotation. • Intra-articular fractures. • Subcapital and peri-articular fractures. • Open fractures. • Associated neurovascular or tendon injury. • Bone loss. • Polytrauma. • Multiple hand fractures.
