ABSTRACT

Research into the issues of internationalization and the way organizations adapt to the challenges of working in different countries and cultures must increasingly include evidence not just from the corporate sector but also from public or not-for-profit sectors. Most researchers have focused on the way multinational companies have responded to working internationally. However, the experience of major multilateral agencies such as the United Nations or leading international non-government organizations (INGOs) such as the Red Cross, Oxfam or CARE can also shed valuable light on the internationalization process.
