ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Over the years the developments of new materials and construction practices have allowed engineers to build unique and impressive structures. With these advancements comes the responsibility of economically maintaining a safe and useful structure over and beyond it’s projected life. Developing comprehensive and credible data is imperative to assess long-term performance and to aid as a tool in the allocation of resources related to maintenance issues. Structural health monitoring systems will play a vital role in the acquisition of comprehensive real-time data to feed information into this decision making process.
