ABSTRACT

The purpose of this short but significant final chapter is to pull together a number of the key issues previously discussed throughout the book. This will be achieved by making a series of recommendations which, hopefully, will lead to further good and better practice and help to move the prevention and combating of truancy and other forms of nonattendance onto a new level. No one should think that either achieving or managing this process will be easy. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Certainly, there currently seems more will in high places to try initiatives to combat truancy, school absenteeism and other forms of disaffected behaviour than ever before.
