ABSTRACT
This language is spoken in two m ajor dialects, Ashanti and Fante, by up to 8 million people in Ghana. Akan belongs to the Kwa group of the Niger-Congo family. The form described here is Ashanti, the dialect spoken by the great m ajority of the Akan-speaking population.
