ABSTRACT
The functions of museums have been described in Unit 3. In this Unit, we explore the wider role of museums in society and the benefits that they can give to the communities and locations within which they are located. In developing the casefor-support for museums, identifying, explaining and, where possible, quantifying the benefits that the creation of a new museum or the development of an existing museum will provide is a powerful way of demonstrating its value to investors.
