ABSTRACT

The principles on which museums need to consider the return and restitution of cultural property are enshrined in two key documents – UNESCO’s Convention

❚ STUDY EXAMPLE 50.1 A two-year collections research programme was established to record all natural history collections held in museums in one European country. Some 300 museums were surveyed by postal questionnaire, and study visits were made to 100 museums over the two-year period to record selected collections in more detail. The results of the project were recorded on computer, and a report and digest published.
