ABSTRACT

Museums raise funds for many different types of projects, for example building programmes, temporary exhibitions, special events, publications, fieldwork and research programmes. The need for fundraising varies from museum to museum. Generally speaking, museums seek to raise funds for projects of one sort or another

that they would not otherwise be able to fund from their normal revenue budget. Funds may be raised from public-or private-sector sources – international bodies, central or local government agencies, charitable trusts or foundations, commercial companies or individual patrons.
