ABSTRACT

The Prophet of Islam, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh, was one of the most influential men of all time. The term “Muḥammadanism” sometimes used as a substitute for the term Islam faithfully reflects his unique position in the edifice that he created and in the hearts of his followers. Before him the Arabs were a marginal factor in world politics, whereas following his brilliant political and military achievements they became the masters of a huge empire.
