ABSTRACT

The synthesis and development of novel alloy phases by mechanical means [through mechanical alloying (MA) methods] has been in existence for more than four decades. During this period, several new versions of the original process of mechanical alloying developed by Benjamin [1,2] have come up. Consequently, the different processes have been designated differently, and it would be useful to have a clear knowledge and understanding of the different terms and acronyms used in the literature. This will help in clearly identifying the actual process used in synthesizing the material.
