ABSTRACT

Dear Consultant: Three years ago I took over a co-ed group from a resident who went on maternity leave. I had no group experience prior to taking over the group, but was excited by the opportunity and got supervision from a senior group therapist. Initially, there were three men and one woman in the group, all of whom had a history of chronic depression and either a narcissistic or dependent personality disorder. They were in their 50s and 60s, and had been chronically unemployed or on disability for many years.
